Distribution of COVID-19 safety kits in schools 

Corona safety kits were distributed to Transform Lives schools on Feb 13, 2021, in collaboration with Guru Krupa Foundation of America to Zilla Parishad High Schools of Ravalkol, Rajabollaram, and Srirangavaram villages of the mandal. Mr. Salahuddin Saiphy, principal lead, Water Management; Mrs Bayamma Ramulu, sarpanch; SMC chairpersons, headmasters, ward member V, and ex officio chairman; and the foundation team members, field associate Hari Prasad and engineer Kiran, engineer, attended the program. Lives Transformed: From under the trees to smart classrooms

Vibhuti Kumari, student of class 8 in Rajkiya Buniyadi Vidyalaya Manchi, Bhandari, recalls that her school only had two classrooms, and there was no furniture. Grades 6–8 had to sit together in one classroom on the floor. “It was very difficult to sit on the floor and write. Study was no fun.” When students have fun, learning follows. For learning to follow, places of learning have to be stimulating and welcoming.

Jaldhara V photo story

Sehgal Foundation and Coca-Cola India Foundation have partnered for the Jaldhara V project in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh states of India. The check dam construction and tank desilting work done in Kolar and Anantapur districts have had tremendous impacts on farmers and communities. Watch a photo story about the project. 

Water budgeting? An easier way to look at it! 
The foundation team in Maharashtra has come up with an effective IEC tool on water budgeting. The video shares in detail about the process of water budgeting and how its benefits can be used for training communities, Village Development Committee members, water management committees in villages, etc.

Inauguration of Amarpur Pond 
Sehgal Foundation inaugurated a newly constructed pond at village Amarpur, district Palwal, Haryana, on Feb17, 2021, supported by DCB Bank. Admiral Sunil Lanba (former chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy) inaugurated the pond and addressed the village gathering. The Paanch Vishwa Pond will improve the water storage capacity by harvesting rainwater runoff, improve water availability for livestock, and also provide an additional source of income for villagers. Ms. Anjali Makhija, COO, Sehgal Foundation, gave her opening remarks, before special remarks by Mr. Murali Natrajan, MD & CEO of DCB Bank Ltd, and Village Development Committee members. Projects teams from Sehgal Foundation were present at the event.

Women's conference
A women's conference was organized at Sewa Sadan in district Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Feb 12, 2021. This meeting was attended by government officials such as district development manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), representative from Bihar Livelihoods Promotion Society; lead district manager, Muzaffarpur; medical officer, Motipur; Padamshri awardee Kishaan Chachi and scientist from KVK Saraiya. Around 50 women from nearby villages participated in the meeting.

Women farmers’ conclave 
Mahila Kisan Sammelan (farmers' conclave) was organized on Feb 16, 2021 in Gollapalli village, district Medak, Telangana, under Hytech supported CSR project. The sammelan was attended by 150 women farmer club members and others. The program was addressed by Shri Raghunandan Rao, MLA and officials from Agriculture Department. Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Haroon, managing director, Hytech Seed India Pvt Ltd was also present, along with the foundation team members.

Students equipped with life skills education
Certificates were distributed to Taruni students of two batches from Kempasandra and Halepalya through Ms. Shalini, Panchayat Development Officer, K G Halli, Kolar, Karnataka. The Taruni program of Sehgal Foundation equips young girls with life skills education and lessons on personality development to increase confidence and self-esteem and be empowered to take part effectively in local development.

Farmers' Exposure Visit 
Farmers from nine villages of district Mahendergarh under the HDFC supported project Parivartan visited Pusa, New Delhi, to learn about new agricultural techniques and high-quality seeds varieties. Farmers were happy to see innovative agriculture technologies that can help increase crop productivity and make agriculture more remunerative.

Presentations on Water Interventions
Mr. Lalit Sharma from S M Sehgal Foundation presented at first WETNET Learning Exchange in 2021 conducted virtually by CAWST. The presentation focused on sharing history with CAWST, plans, success stories, challenges and solutions adopted up till now. He was an invited speaker at the India Industry Water Conclave. He shared about the foundation's innovation "Creating freshwater source from Saline Aquifer" in the Plenary Session: Groundwater Management on Feb 17, 2021.

World Radio Day celebrations
Community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat FM 107.8 celebrated World Radio Day in varied ways. The celebrations of this special day began with a community event in village Hamjapur, district Nuh, Haryana, on Feb 12, 2021 where women achievers at grassroots shared their journeys; Ms. Pooja O Murada, represented Alfaz-e-Mewat at The Radio Festival held at India International Center on Feb 13, 2021, New Delhi. The Statesman covered Alfaz-e-Mewat as part of its World Radio Day feature. Read report . . .

New radio series on COVID-19 impact on communities and vaccination started
Supported by UNESCO and Maraa, community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat launched a new series titled Safar (a journey) looking at COVID and its impact on truck drivers and migrant workers. The uniqueness of this 15-episode series lies in the heartwarming and heart-wrenching sharing by community members of how they have been overcoming the problems in the pandemic and how they keep moving.  In addition, another series on COVID-19 vaccination started on radio, supported by UNICEF and Community Radio Association.
